About dr. brandy
Outside of work I enjoy reading and listening to audiobooks, playing PC and board games, practicing aerial arts, and taking naps. When I’m feeling more invigorated I enjoy hiking, beachcombing, and playing volleyball. I grew up in rural Oregon, moved to Portland in my early 20’s, and consider myself both “city” and “country” folk. I enjoy music of many varieties but save a special place in my heart for punk and grunge. In 2023 I created my business Another State of Spined, LLC which reflects my love of mental health and Chiropractic puns as well as an ode to the song and documentary by Social Distortion.
Education & Training
I attended Mt. Hood Community College (Gresham, OR) and Portland State University (Portland, OR) majoring in Community Health Education and Health Sciences for my undergraduate degree. I received a Doctor of Chiropractic degree in 2022 from University of Western States (Portland, OR) with an emphasis on Diversified technique, low force techniques, massage and manual therapy, as well as physical rehabilitation.
While attending graduate school I served as a Student Liaison to the American Chiropractic Association’s (ACA) Committee for Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (CEDI), as an Allies Club board member, and on the Oregon Collaborative for Integrative Medicine’s (OCIM) Student Alliance for Integrative Medicine’s (SAIM) Executive Board. During my later portion of graduate school, I interned at a local YWCA program and Cascadia Health clinic.
Prior to becoming a Chiropractor, I held various positions in the mental health and substance use recovery fields for approximately ten years, which heavily influences my approach to care today. I currently serve on the Board of Directors as Program Manager for Radical Abundance, a local thrift shop and non-profit focused on financing BIPOC bodywork and Trans or gender non-conforming affirming care.
